Castile soap has a very long and sordid history. The formulations you see now, made with pure olive oil, are born after the original laurel oil that was combined with olive oil, was difficult to obtain in Europe. This bar of Castile soap is made with an oil blend of olive oil pomace and rice bran oil. It is used in a variety of applications and not just for hand washing. You can make everything from laundry detergent to ant repellant from Castile soap.
It is commonly use by fabric artists for washing and blocking their works and for the needle felting process in which you stab a pile of wool a bunch of times with needles. How metal is that?
This is one of the most gentle soaps that you can buy and is often used for pets, babies, and for those with sensitive skin. It typically has a cure time of about a year due to the soft oils, but I used a water discount as well as sodium lactate to help speed the process along. It is still a soft bar, but with proper storage it can be as long lasting as our soaps that use coconut oil.
With this soap, I'll be starting to do lather tests so that you can see how the soap lathers before you purchase! Just click on the video below to check out our new Castile Soap in action!

Ingredients: Olive Oil Pomace/Rice Bran Oil blend, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide*
*to create the reaction that makes soap. No lye is left over after the reaction is complete
Base Ingredients in most of my soap batches are Rice Bran Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Distilled Water, Aloe Vera Juice, Sodium Lactate which helps harden your bar, and Sodium Hydroxide for the chemical reaction needed to make soap. And love. We can't forget love. If you have any sensitivities, please check the individual listing of the item that you wish to purchase for a full ingredient list.
Soap - 2.75" x 2.75" bar
Lotion - 2.5" round Tin
We recommend that you use a draining soap dish with any handmade soap. Because a draining soap dish will give your bar of soap the opportunity to dry out between uses. This way you bar of soap will last much longer. Have you ever noticed that the bar of soap sitting in the puddle of water in your shower has become soft and mushy? When you're soap is sitting in water, it is slowly dissolving.
